HEALTHY VALLEY 

Nancy Valentine, Co-chair of Healthy Valley accepts a check presented by Big Y Supermarkets as one of the monthly sponsors of Healthy Valley.

Pitney Bowes and Big Y Supermarkets are the first two "Monthly Sponsors" for the Healthy Valley Project. For Pitney Bowes, this is not the first time that they have supported Healthy Valley. They were a major sponsor of the very successful Educational Mini-Grant program conducted by Healthy Valley's Education Sub-committee. Jack Walsh, Executive Director of Valley United Way and a member of Healthy Valley's Coordinating Committee praised the continuing support that Pitney Bowes has given to the Valley Community. "Pitney Bowes has been a great corporate citizen and a leader in so many areas of the Valley's life. This is another sign of their deep commitment to the quality of life here".

This is Big Y's first venture with Healthy Valley, and Nancy Valentine and Jack Walsh journeyed to Agawam, MA to Big Y's Paul H. D'Amour Memorial Charity Golf Tournament where Big Y officials presented them with a check. The tournament is a major Big Y effort that raises funds that are distributed to a number of worthy causes in area where Big Y is located. Valentine, who was mayor of Ansonia when Big Y built their Main Street store, said, "We are especially pleased to have Big Y as a part of Healthy Valley. The support of local business is critical to the future of the project, and we welcome Big Y to our family of friends and supporters."

The "Monthly Sponsors" help to underwrite the cost of the Healthy Valley project by supporting one month of operating costs. Their contributions coupled with support from Griffin Hospital, the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, Valley United Way and other fundraising efforts have allowed the many initiatives of Healthy Valley to continue to grow and prosper.
